Salt Water, Sun, and Neglect Are Hard on Boats

Salt water, sun exposure, and constant moisture form about the worst possible combination for any surface. A boat that sits in the water in Broward County — or even just on a trailer in the Florida heat — takes more abuse in one season than most vehicles see in years. Gel coat oxidizes. The hull develops waterline staining. Interior surfaces get mildew. Fiberglass goes chalky and dull.

Most boat owners either ignore it until the damage is significant or pay marine shop prices for the work. Gloss Genesis Detailing offers a mobile solution: we come to your marina slip, your storage facility, or your driveway. Professional marine detailing at a competitive price, without the hassle of hauling the boat to a shop.

What Is Boat Detailing?

Boat detailing covers the exterior and interior surfaces of watercraft. On the outside, that means washing and decontaminating the hull, removing waterline deposits and oxidation from the gel coat, polishing the fiberglass back to a clean shine, and applying a marine wax or protective coating to guard against future salt and UV damage. Pontoons, center consoles, bowriders, bass boats, and larger cruisers all have different surface configurations — we work with all of them.

On the interior, we clean upholstery, compartments, rod holders, livewells, and all surfaces. Marine upholstery in Florida takes UV punishment constantly — we treat and protect it to keep it from cracking and fading. Canvas, stainless hardware, and aluminum all get appropriate treatment as part of a complete marine detail.

Our Process

01

Rinse & Pre-Wash

We start with a fresh water rinse and a marine-grade soap wash to remove loose salt, dirt, and grime from the hull and deck. Salt has to come off before any other work can happen.

02

Oxidation Removal & Gel Coat Polish

If the gel coat is oxidized — chalky, faded, or dull — we use a compound and polisher to remove the oxidation and bring the fiberglass back to a clean, wet-looking finish. This step makes the biggest visual difference on boats that have been neglected.

03

Waterline & Hull Stain Treatment

Waterline staining — the brown or green band of algae, mineral deposits, and grime at the waterline — requires specific products to dissolve and remove without damaging the hull surface. We address this separately as part of the exterior process.

04

Protection & Interior Detailing

A quality marine wax or coating goes on after polishing to protect the gel coat from UV and salt for the season. Then we move to the interior — cleaning all upholstery, surfaces, compartments, and hardware.

Why Choose Gloss Genesis for Boat Detailing

  • We Come to Your Marina. A lot of boat owners don't want to haul their boat anywhere. We come to the slip, the dry storage, or the driveway. Wherever it's sitting, that's where we work.

  • We Know Marine Surfaces. Gel coat, marine upholstery, aluminum trim, and canvas all need different products than car paint. We don't use car products on boat surfaces.

  • Year-Round Service. Broward County boaters are on the water all year. We're available year-round as well — not a seasonal operation.

Go Beyond Wax — Ceramic Coat Your Boat

Elie Balthazar | GlossGenesis Detailing

A quality marine wax is good for a season. A ceramic coating applied to your gel coat lasts significantly longer — protecting against salt, UV, and biological growth with less maintenance between applications. If your boat is in the water regularly or sits in the South Florida sun most of the year, a ceramic coating is worth serious consideration. Ask us about marine ceramic coating when you book.

Boat Detailing FAQs

Do you service boats at the marina?

Yes. We service boats in slip, in dry storage, on trailers, and in driveways. As long as there's access to the boat and a place for us to park with our equipment, we can come to you.

Can you remove heavy oxidation from an older boat?

Yes — in most cases. The more oxidized a gel coat is, the more work it takes to restore, but significant improvement is possible on most fiberglass surfaces. We'll assess the hull condition and give you an honest expectation before we start.

Do you detail pontoon boats?

Yes. Pontoons have their own unique needs — the aluminum tubes require different treatment than fiberglass, and the deck furniture, carpet, and vinyl upholstery all get separate attention. We've detailed plenty of pontoons across Broward County.

How long does a boat detail take?

It varies significantly based on the size of the vessel and its current condition. A 20-foot center console might take 4–6 hours. A 30+ foot cruiser with heavy oxidation could take a full day or more. We'll give you an accurate estimate after reviewing the boat.
